EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Goals of Cold Spring Dance:

   1. To bring Dance, Art History and Nature into the lives of students and general audiences;

   2.  To create a unique approach to Dance and Arts Education; and

   3.  Offering young artists a positive space and encouragement to find their own creative voice through workshops on our campus.

FORUMS FOR FULFILLING THE MISSION:

1. Adopt a School Program

a. Cold Spring Dance will set up lighting, sound, dance floor, and scenic design, to provide a professional dance performance for an entire school, followed by in-depth discussion of the topics addressed in the performance.

b. Cold Spring Dance will bring professional dancers into Special Ed classes in public schools to explore creative movement and expression, incorporating music and theater games.

2. Cold Spring Campus Workshops

Through creativity workshops, professional artists will work with students on dance and art history, encouraging them to make new connections between art forms and disciplines while making their own creations. The Learning Campus of Cold Spring Dance is nestled in a mountain-top arboretum and performance space just northeast of the Hudson Valley town of Cold Spring, NY.

3. Museum Programs

Through performances and teaching workshops, Cold Spring Dance will use the museum setting to develop new teaching approaches to dance and art with the objective of inspiring students’ pursuit of their interest in the arts. As an educator and choreographer for the past 33 years, Artistic Director Cally Moraytis has striven to integrate her interests in Dance, Art History and Nature in a way that captivates and inspires passion for the arts in audiences of all ages.
